Save Water
One of our top environmental priorities should be to save water.
According to Truthout, the 4th major threat to our civilization, according to the World Economic Forum, is the water crisis. Most Americans think of developing countries as the affected population by water crisis but the United States and Europe are also affected by this crisis. A study performed in 2019, states such as Colorado, New Mexico, California, and Arizona will have to make adjustments to face the inevitable water shortages that are creeping up.
Below are some facts about the usage of water and why we need to focus in saving water.
- It takes 7,000 liters of WATER to make ONE pair of JEANS
- It takes 1,514 liters of WATER to make ONE t-shirt
- 771 million people in the world live without clean water- that is nearly, 1 in 10 people worldwide. Or, twice the population of the United States.
- Access to clean water and basic sanitation can save around 16,000 lives every week.
Since it takes 7,000 liters of WATER to make ONE pair of JEANS and 1,514 liters of WATER to make ONE t-shirt, Garson & Shaw is dedicated to give already existing secondhand-clothing a second life. By re-wearing, reusing, and recycling clothing, we save water- precious natural resources, reduce pollution, and keep waste out of landfills. Every item of clothing saved is good for our planet. Garson & Shaw is committed to environmental stewardship through textile reuse and recycling. We are proud to be leaders in the industry, and we actively work to raise awareness about the environmental benefits of secondhand clothing.
