Vision for Circular Fashion
The Ellen MacArthur Foundation has a vision for circular fashion.
Millions of tons of clothing are created, used, and discarded each year. The equivalent of a garbage truck load of clothing is burned or buried in a landfill every second. One of the largest sources of plastic microfibers in our oceans is the fashion sector. To fix the problem, fashion must be reinvented.
Circular fashion produces better fashion and services for customers, contributes to an irrepressible and thriving fashion industry, and revives the environment. Circular prioritizes the rights and equity of everyone involved in the fashion industry, and will create new opportunities for growth that are distributed, diverse, and inclusive.
We can build a fashion industry that designs products to be:
used more
made to be recycled
made from safe and recycled or renewable inputs
Together we can make fashion circular and help tackle the root causes of global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution.
Garson & Shaw contributes to the circular economy for fashion by connecting the used clothes you no longer need with people who can use them. We work with thrift stores, charities and for-profit collection companies to recycle millions of pounds of clothes, shoes and household items. It’s our business to give used clothing a second life.
