According to the EPA, textile waste has drastically increased in the past 60 years. In 1980 the US generated 5 billion pounds of textile waste but in 2014 the number increased to 32.44 billion pounds.
Out of all the textiles that are produced, 95% can be recycled, however, as of right now, only 15% of textiles are being recycled.
By raising awareness of textile recycling, we can increase the recycled textile numbers and decrease the textile that ends up in landfills.
